can be fit with amplification by as young as 4 weeks of age. With appropriate early intervention, children with hearing loss can be mainstreamed in regular elementary and secondary education classrooms.
Tour of the Ear
- Sound Waves enter the ear canal traveling to the ear drum.
- Eardrum vibrates.
- Sets the middle ear bones into motion.
- Third bone, Stapes, rocks back and forth starting fluid movement in the inner ear.
- Inner ear's hair cells, (hundreds of thousands) are stimulated.
- Hair cells fire and send electrical impulse through the hearing nerve to the brain.
